"I would like for you to start blogging at least three times a week okay? Think you can do that, Elizabeth?"
"Oh, yeah. Nothing really happens in my daily life though. But I can do it Mike."
HA. This conversation happened last week....Yeah, I haven't done anything. I even told y'all I would write more. I told y'all I would talk about the July conference. Did I? Answer that. Nope. I did nothing. It's okay, I will allow for you to be disappointed in me. I just need some motivation. Can't really motivate myself. I always end up telling myself a lot of negative stuff. Should I say that? I don't know. Anyways, yeah. I have to write three times a week. Y'all are gonna have to read. The meeting was three days. DAY 1- My mother and I arrived late. I blame me, but we made it. First thing we had to do was register. It was simple. The others had just finished lunch and were on to the next activity. The activity was students of the same country were to come together and meet up. Here we were meant to socialize and make friends... I had a terrible time. I am too shy and I ended up being put in a random group to talk. Oh, but Elizabeth did NOT do that. Nooo, she ended up staring around and just listening to what the others were saying. Yeah, I failed. Clearly I was off to a great start. Next, We met up with our districts. This was my favorite because it was everyone I knew. After, those working with Tzell had to meet up and listen to what Tzell wanted to tell us. Dinner was next. It was good food. There have been occasions in the past with Rotary of food that I have not eaten before. I mean come on. I'm hispanic so I eat Hispanic food. After dinner it was an Opening Ceremony. After that was an OUTBOUND SURVIVAL GUIDE. We were told all sorts of info for when we leave to our host country. Last for the day was dancing, pizza, and swimming until 12 AM. -DAY 2- Breakfast at 7. Next outbound students and parents met up with our correspondent. That meant that we had to go with the person who had our country to talk some more. After that both the outbound student and parent had to head towards a chapel to learn about handling exchange anxiety. I really enjoyed this as well because I have a tendency to get really nervous and at this meet I was taught what to do. We were showed many types of exercises to deal with anxiety. Once this was over it was Lunch. Again, the food went well and it was food I was familiar with. After there was a general session for everyone. Next it was sports time for the students. We could choose between volleyball or soccer. I chose neither. I enjoy soccer but I just wasn't feeling it. After the sports games it was time for THE EXCHANGE PINS!!! (^.^) It was incredible. People from all over wanting to exchange pins with as many people. I'm terrible at remembering things right after they are told to me. I can remember it later but right at the moment I forget it. This resulted in me handing out pins to the same people. It got so bad with this one girl she told me I already told her...four times making this the fifth. Yeah. But I ended up having so much fun and so did the other students. The exchange was supposed to be over at 5:45 but it ended up lasting until 6:17. I checked because there was a reason it had to end at a specific time. You see, the same time there was the pins it was also the time to have dinner... with our parents. Yeah, my mum began eating without me. Hey, it wasn't my fault the pins exchange was so fun. "Time flies when you're having fun". After this we had another General Session. There was talking more talking and a bit more. After all the talking it was time for the TALENT SHOW! There was so much talent. There was singing and dancing mostly. It was pretty great. After this it was time for the late swimming, dancing, and pizza. They had to call it in early though because there was another activity at 12 AM. -DAY 3- At 12AM they had decided to celebrate the birthday of my friend Jocelyn. We sang her happy birthday, ate snacks, and play games. I ended up going back to my room at 3 to sleep, but then ended up talking with other students. I didn't sleep until 5 something? Quite useless since I had to wake up before 7 for breakfast. My alarm rang but instead of putting it on snooze I stopped it and fell back asleep. Woke up after 7 but I was glad I organized everything earlier that morning. (You mean at 5 something Elizabeth? -.-) We ate breakfast and started taking everything to our car. Before I left I saw those of my district. I feel bad for not trying to look for them. I didn't want to say goodbye. It makes me sad. I wanted to cry. I heard somebody call my name and when I turned around everyone was there. We hugged and said farewell. We said to keep in touch and to wait until next year.
That sums up my meeting. I know it is a lot to read but a lot happened in my defense. Hope you made it all the way down here. lol. I will be blogging more. This time I do promised. Also, I looked at my calendar and realized that I have a couple weeks left until I leave. Trying my best not to panic but its almost time.... It still has not hit me that I will be in Japan next month. To be honest I still think this is like a dream. Sayonara! Until next time! Elizabeth out.
